Wright strikes to deny Norwich bragging rights

DAVID WRIGHT’S scrambled equaliser gave Ipswich a point and denied Norwich the East Anglian bragging rights at Carrow Road yesterday.

Wright — who enjoyed a loan spell with the Canaries in 2005 — reacted first to poke a loose ball home midway through the second-half to seal a deserved point for Jim Magilton’s side after Dickson Etuhu’s early header had given the hosts a half-time advantage.

NORWICH: Warner, Hughes, Shackell, Dublin, Drury, Croft (Colin 68), Etuhu, Spillane (Martin 56), Fotheringham, Huckerby, Earnshaw.

IPSWICH: Supple, Wright, Wilnis, Bruce, Harding, Peters (Haynes 78), Garvan, Williams, Roberts, Walters (Lee 64), Jeffers.

Referee: S Tanner (Somerset).
