Boothroyd: Hornets win vital before cup clash

WATFORD boss Adrian Boothroyd believes yesterday’s 4-2 win over Portsmouth was a crucial result ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.

Boothroyd’s side claimed only their fourth Premiership victory of the campaign thanks to a double strike from Hameur Bouazza and goals from Gavin Mahon and Tamas Priskin.

Pompey — who overcame league leaders Manchester United two days ago — had taken a 16th-minute lead through Matthew Taylor, but faced an uphill struggle after Bouazza equalised from the spot 12 minutes later and substitute Arnold Mvuemba’s goal in the 81st minute was a mere consolation.
