Today FM and Newstalk extend Premiership coverage deals
Today FM’s award winning ‘Premiership Live’ has retained exclusive live radio commentaries of games on Saturdays with Newstalk holding the rights to Sunday afternoon matches.
The new agreements will run for a three year period commencing in August.
Today FM’s chief executive Willie O’Reilly said: “We are delighted. It is a clear endorsement of the standard of our soccer coverage.
“Our commitment to maintaining the high standards the Premier League expects was pivotal to our success in retaining the contract.”
Newstalk 106-108 FM already broadcasts the Premiership in the Dublin region under an existing rights agreement which ends in May however the new contract is a nationwide deal.
Jerry O’Sullivan, Newstalk 106-108 fm’s sports editor, said: “This clearly shows Newstalk 106-108 FM’s commitment to delivering the best live sport to our listeners and having top quality analysis from the likes of John Giles.
‘‘Newstalk 106-108 FM is by far, the biggest sports broadcaster in Irish radio delivering over 25 hours of sports radio a week,” O’Sullivan said.
