Aston Villa sign Carew

ASTON VILLA manager Martin O’Neill has swapped one striker for another with Lyon forward John Carew signing a three-and-half-year deal and Milan Baros moving to the French club.

The Baros deal was concluded earlier in the day before the 27-year-old Norway international agreed to a switch in the other direction.

Carew, a former Valencia and Roma striker, is likely to be the first of the new arrivals at Villa Park with Watford forward Ashley Young expected to complete his €14.6m move over the weekend.

Villa will pay an initial £8m (€12m) for Young plus an additional £1.65m (€2.5m) based on appearances and him earning a full England cap.

Wolves are set to sign Scunthorpe’s Ireland Under-21 international striker Andy Keogh after the two clubs agreed a fee that could rise to £850,000.

The 20-year-old underwent a medical yesterday ahead of signing a three-year deal.
