Spurs boss will make late decision on Lennon

TOTTENHAM boss Martin Jol will make a late decision on winger Aaron Lennon ahead of the UEFA Cup meeting with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

Lennon missed the Premiership draw with Blackburn at the weekend along with Jermaine Jenas (calf), who is not ready for the clash at the BayArena.

Pascal Chimbonda (medial ligament) is back in the squad but Calum Davenport (groin), Anthony Gardner (knee) and Paul Stalteri (knee) are set to miss out. Teemu Tainio is back in contention.

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Paul Le Guen is determined to ensure there will be two Scottish clubs playing European football after Christmas this year.

Old Firm rivals Celtic have already booked their place in the latter stages of the Champions League, now the Ibrox side find themselves with a great chance of progressing to the knockout stages following wins over Livorno and Maccabi Haifa in the their first two Group A games.

A draw against Auxerre tonight should be enough to see them safely through to the next round and Le Guen would love to see them join Celtic on the European stage in the New Year.

Sasa Papac’s involvement in Champions League matches with Austria Vienna means he is cup-tied for the UEFA Cup and his place in the squad will be taken by Julien Rodriguez.

On-loan Manchester United winger Lee Martin also stayed behind in Glasgow after picking up an injury.

Both Papac and Martin were named on the bench for the win against Hearts at the weekend and Le Guen expects to name a similar side to face Auxerre.

He said: “It is a possibility. We need stability. When we win, it is not a good idea to make changes, so there will not be too many changes for this game.”
