New contracts for Reading’s Icelandic pair

READING’S Icelandic duo Brynjar Gunnarsson and Ivar Ingimarsson have both signed contract extensions with the club.

The 31-year-old Gunnarsson’s deal will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until 2008, while Ingimarsson’s new agreement will expire the following year.

Both players were key members of last season’s Coca-Cola Championship-winning campaign and have also been regulars in Steve Coppell’s Premiership side this season.

Director of football Nick Hammond said: “Ivar and Brynjar are both consummate professionals and are fine examples of what Reading Football Club is all about. They have made a big impact during their time at Reading and we are delighted that they have both signed new contracts.”

Ingimarsson, 29, said: “This is the place I want to be, to play a part in what Reading is doing.

“The contract is recognition from the club that they have belief in me and think I can perform well in the Premiership, so I am very thankful for that.”
