Finnan backs Staunton to ‘build for the future’

THE vote of confidence in a beleaguered manager was never less ‘dreaded’ nor more insipid.

Steve Finnan, showing more bravery than he had in the whole 90 minutes of Saturday night’s embarrassment, faced the press with a half-hearted gospel yesterday.

“We serve under his [Staunton’s] regime and we’re trying to build for the future,” he said.
