Swindon and Ince cancel contract
The former England midfielder, who turns 39 this month, cited “personal reasons” for the decision which comes just weeks after he joined the Robins in August.
A club statement read: “The realities of living away from home and the travel time from Chester have proved more challenging than the ambition to play for his old friend Dennis Wise.
“Paul and Dennis have mutually agreed to cancel his contract forthwith but the club would like to wish Paul and his family every success for the future.”
Ince will continue in a coaching role at the County Ground “to fulfil the requirements for his coaching badges”.
Swindon manager Dennis Wise believes Paul Ince’s departure from the club is “best for both parties”.
“Basically, he doesn’t want to put himself into something that he is not 110% behind and I respect him for that,” Wise said.
