Wycombe shock Fulham

WYCOMBE produced a major upset to send Fulham tumbling out of the Carling Cup with a famous victory at Craven Cottage.

Wycombe shock Fulham

Jermaine Easter and Tommy Mooney were on target in the first half as the League Two leaders slipped into the third round.

Fulham created enough opportunities to win an entertaining tie several times over but Heidar Helguson, Tomasz Radzinski and Bjorn Runstrom missed several chances.

The team fielded by Chris Coleman included four summer signings, with Gabriel Zakuani, Jan Lastuvka, Runstrom and Wayne Routledge making their first appearances at Craven Cottage.

The home fans were stunned into silence in the eighth minute when Wycombe crept ahead through Easter.

Michael Timlin gave away possession in midfield and Wanderers reacted with propose, feeding Matt Bloomfield whose shot was saved by Lastuvka. But the ball rebounded to Easter who buried the chance from 10 yards.

Carlos Bocanegra brought down Easter in the 40th minute for a penalty and Mooney converted from the spot.

Fulham reduced the deficit a minute after the interval with Routledge surging through midfield and picking out Runstrom. The Sweden U-21 striker tried to chip Young from an acute angle and appeared to have succeeded but Helguson headed in at the far post to make sure.

Radzinski brushed the upright and Runstrom missed an open goal as Wycombe held on to humble the Premiership big-guns.
