Bubbly O’Brien on the wing with a prayer

FROM the Gottlieb Daimler Stadion to the glamour of the Northern League and Benfield Bay Plastics — it’s hardly the usual itinerary for an international player after a European Championship qualifier.

But Ireland winger — and Newcastle United reserve — Alan O’Brien hopes his dedication to Glenn Roeder’s side means he will have a Premiership fixture to look forward to on his return from future internationals.

“I don’t mind where I play, I just want a game and I just want to play football,” said O’Brien last night.
