Hanke out of German squad

WOLFSBURG’S Mike Hanke has withdrawn from the German squad for Saturday’s opening Euro 2008 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in Stuttgart.

The striker will not be replaced, leaving coach Joachim Low with a 19-man squad.

Goalkeepers: Lehmann (Arsenal), Hildebrand (Stuttgart)

Defenders: Madlung (Wolfsburg), Friedrich (Hertha Berlin), Manuel Friedrich (Mainz), Jansen (Borussia Monchengladbach), Lahm (Bayern Munich), Fathi (Hertha Berlin)

Midfielders: Ballack (Chelsea), Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich), Borowski (Werder Bremen), Frings (Werder Bremen), Schneider (Bayer Leverkusen), Odonkor (Real Betis), Hitzlsperger (Stuttgart).

Forwards: Asamoah (Schalke 04), Klose (Werder Bremen), Lukas Podolski (Bayern Munich), Neuville (Borussia Monchengladbach).
