Le Guen: Rangers will have to improve

They squandered the opportunity to go top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Dunfermline.

The result followed last week’s match against Dundee United, when they were forced to come back from behind to rescue a point. And Le Guen insists a repeat of those performances against last season’s SPL runners-up simply will not do.

“For us it is a waste of points,” he rapped. “I am disappointed with the result and with the way of playing today. We have to do better and to have more control to win such a game.

“Up front we were not good enough and the whole team did not play as well as they did in the first two games. There is a lack of confidence, but not enough to explain the results. We lack control and every player must be aware that he can do better. I knew that we wouldn’t win all the games in the beginning, but I know the players can do better.

Thomas Buffel fired Rangers into the lead but that was cancelled out by Pars substitute Owen Morrison.

DUNFERMLINE: McKenzie, McCunnie, Bamba, Scott Wilson, Simmons, Mason, McGuire, Woods (Craig Wilson 90), Muirhead (Ross 57), Tod, Burchill (Owen Morrison 66).

RANGERS: Letizi, Hutton, Rodriguez, Svensson, Smith, Sionko (Burke 59), Hemdani, Clement, Buffel, Prso (Kris Boyd 59), Adam (Martin 71).

Referee: C Richmond (Scotland).
