Holland raring to go

MATT HOLLAND has every intention of showing new Charlton manager Iain Dowie just why he is worth keeping at The Valley.

The 32-year-old midfielder is about to enter the final season of his contract with the Addicks, having joined them from Ipswich in the summer of 2003.

“Last year certainly was a difficult period,” the midfielder said. “It seemed to be one after another with the injuries, which meant I was not fully fit up until Christmas. I know I was very frustrated. I am one of those players who over the years has been used to playing week-in, week-out.

“Hopefully this year I can now hit the ground running right from the start.”
