Allardyce set to revive fading Fortune
The South African midfielder was released in the summer by Manchester United after failing to play a senior match last season because of a knee injury.
But Fortune, 29, has secured a one-year deal at the Reebok Stadium after being involved in two matches in four days following weeks of hard training.
Allardyce decided to step in after Celtic and Manchester City backed off, apparently because of concerns about Fortune’s fitness.
The Bolton boss, though, has a track record of re-igniting players’ careers that is second to none.
Gary Speed, Kevin Davies and Ivan Campo are those among the current crop who have benefited from his particular brand of stewardship.
Allardyce is convinced Fortune can be a big asset to the team.
“Quinton is a player I have admired for a very long time,” he said.
