Quinn to take Black Cats’ hot seat today

NIALL QUINN is to be officially named as Sunderland’s chairman and manager this morning.

The 39-year-old former Ireland international was given a hero’s welcome by travelling Sunderland fans before kick-off of last night’s friendly with Shelbourne.

Quinn said: “The season is two weeks away and the players have got to have leadership and direction now. That is what I am hoping to be able to announce. I want to get a real feeling that we are ready for the year, I will have a lot more to say tomorrow.
