Former FAI press officer McKenna dies

THE Football Association of Ireland last night learned of the passing of Brendan McKenna, former press officer of the association.

Chief executive John Delaney said: “Brendan was one of life’s true gentlemen. He was a dedicated journalist and sports enthusiast.

“He lived for sport and outside of football loved his tennis and golf and was a dedicated family man.

“The family of football, who are gathered in Dublin for the FAI AGM, will miss his sense of humour and his humility. On behalf of the association, we extend our sympathies to Brendan’s children and family,” he added.

A minute’s silence will be observed at the FAI AGM today at Citywest.
