Keane irreplaceable: Strachan

CELTIC manager Gordon Strachan has admitted he has an impossible task filling the midfield role vacated by Roy Keane this summer.

Strachan will tonight pit his inexperienced squad against Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara at Giants Stadium near New York in the second of three friendlies in the US.

Celtic’s 4-0 hammering by DC United has thrown the vacuum created by Keane’s retirement into even sharper focus.

“You can’t fill Roy Keane’s shoes,” Strachan said.

“You get one-offs in football and he was definitely that. We can’t replace that but we’re hoping to get somebody with experience that can help the younger players.”
