Shevchenko injures knee

UKRAINE striker Andriy Shevchenko has been sidelined with minor knee ligament damage just a month before the World Cup.

Shevchenko will be sidelined for the rest of the month after being forced to leave the pitch just eight minutes into AC Milan’s 3-2 league victory at Parma on Sunday. Tests have since confirmed that Shevchenko sprained his left knee and has a minor ligament injury.

“The player doesn’t need surgery but will only be able to return to play in 25 days’ time,” said a statement on the club’s official website.
