Yorke dreaming of World Cup glory
The 34-year-old’s coach is Pierre Littbarski, who helped West Germany lift the trophy in 1990.
Despite a glittering career with Man United, which included a European Cup winner’s medal in 1999, Yorke has never got close to that level on the international stage.
All that could change in the next week when Trinidad and Tobago aim to clinch a place in the finals for the first time. They face Bahrain in the first leg of a World Cup play-off tomorrow.
Yorke has rediscovered his scoring touch in Australia with five goals in eight starts after a difficult at Blackburn and latterly at Birmingham.
Littbarski is willing him to do well in the games. “It is a very important thing for Dwight because to play in the World Cup is a highlight,” he said.
