Buckley’s experience vital for Ramblers

ANTHONY BUCKLEY faces a late fitness test as Cobh Ramblers player/manager Dave Hill attempts to plot the downfall of the FAI Carlsberg Cup holders, Derry City, in the second round replay at St. Colman’s Park tonight (7.45 pm).

Buckley made a late appearance as substitute in the drawn game at the Brandywell last week but it is feared he may be kept out by the ankle injury that ruled him out of Cobh’s recent matches. Although he played only 15 minutes in Derry, he received another knock to the damaged limb.

Buckley’s experience will be needed if Cobh are to complete what would be a major upset. Derry have not been having the best of seasons in the league, but with Dermot Keely taking charge they were expected to recover the sparkle they showed when winning the cup just a few months ago.
