Johnson and Huth ‘carrot’ to appease Spurs
Both England right-back Johnson and Germany centre-half Huth are now believed to be part of a cash-plus-player compensation package designed to end the feud before today’s noon deadline.
Spurs, incensed by pictures of Arnesen on Roman Abramovich’s yacht this week, reacted by issuing a terse statement demanding Chelsea reach a settlement by the deadline or face being the subject of another Premier League “tapping-up” investigation.
However, the sale of Johnson and Huth could trigger further outlay for the Premiership champions. With only William Gallas as recognised cover, Mourinho may be forced to dip into the transfer market in the search for replacements.
It is another headache for Chelsea who are still reeling from the League’s ruling over the Ashley Cole “tapping-up” affair.
