Reid is charged over clash

BLACKBURN’S Steven Reid has been charged with improper conduct by the FA following a clash with Birmingham’s Jesper Gronkjaer.

Reid appeared to elbow Gronkjaer in the stomach during the 3-3 draw at Ewood Park on Sunday.

Referee Neale Barry took no action against the Republic of Ireland midfielder at the time. The former Millwall player has until December 7 to give a response to the charge.

The player said: “Obviously I’m disappointed about that, but all I can do is now wait and see how the matter is dealt with. I assume that I’ll have to attend a hearing in the next few days.”
