FORMER Wales skipper Gary Speed has joined the criticism of new boss John Toshack’s handling of the Robbie Savage situation.

The Blackburn midfielder retired from international football after being told he was dropped from Toshack’s squad for the World Cup double header against Austria next month, claiming he felt “humiliated” and added he believed the decision was “personal.”

Ex-Wales chief Mark Hughes has entered the debate by insisting Savage was his best player during five years in charge and that the Welsh could not afford to lose a player of such quality.
