Friendship put aside at The Valley
The pair have remained close since playing together at Crystal Palace some six years ago, and the big Charlton centre-half was best man at Jansenâs wedding during the summer.
It has, though, been a difficult time for the Blackburn forward over the past two seasons, but following the return of former Rovers striker Mark Hughes to Ewood Park as manager, Jansen has taken the chance to rejuvenate his career in Lancashire, coming off the bench to net the only goal in the win over Portsmouthlast weekend.
Hreidarsson admits he is âchuffedâ to see his friend enjoying football again after a torrid time with injury - but is determined to help keep the Charlton rearguard intact tonight.
Hreidarsson added: âWe have played each other a few times, so letâs hope I get one over on him! I will speak to him afterwards, but while the game is going on, we have to fight for the three points, and I am sure they will as well.â
Charlton recorded their best ever Premiership finish of seventh last season, but so far have endured a mixed start to the new campaign.
Blackburn boss Hughes wants his side competing for points in every game this season - starting with tonightâs clash.
