Shearer has no problem with being left on the bench

NEWCASTLE captain Alan Shearer insists he has no problem with being left out of Graeme Souness’ starting line-up at the end of one of the toughest seasons of his career.

The 34-year-old former England striker was rested for the 3-1 Barclays Premiership win at Fulham and was used only fleetingly as a substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Everton after admitting he was running on empty.

However, he will return for Sunday’s final game against champions Chelsea at St James’ Park and is raring to go after his well-earned rest.
