Games can't come soon enough for Giggs

RYAN GIGGS looked forward to Manchester United's packed fixture list and roared: "We don't need a rest."

The Old Trafford outfit travel to Birmingham tomorrow before entertaining neighbours City in Sunday's Manchester derby.

International action takes precedence the following midweek, but then Alex Ferguson's side will be plunged into a run of 11 games in 36 days which will shape their season.

Giggs though is unconcerned, insisting that after five successive Premiership victories, the games cannot come soon enough. Giggs' continued his remarkable Red Devils' goalscoring record by grabbing the second in his team's 2-0 win at Southampton on Saturday .

The Welsh winger has now scored nine in all competitions this season, although bizarrely has not found the net in Premiership combat at Old Trafford for over three years.

However, after overcoming what he admitted was one of the longest dips in form of his career, Giggs is confident there are plenty of goals left in him this season.

"You aim for double figures at the start of each season and I only need one more now. Hopefully, I can get a lot more because we are always going to create chances."

Ruud van Nistelrooy put the Red Devils in front when he bundled home Gary Neville's cross after 15 minutes, and once Giggs had doubled United's advantage midway through the half, there was never any doubt they would become the second side after Liverpool to beat Southampton at St Mary's.

"It was important to score quickly, just as Liverpool did, and then ride out the storm," said Giggs. It was the first Premiership clean sheet United have kept on the road this term, although the gloss was taken off the win by the sight of Fabien Barthez being stretchered off after taking a bang on his leg.

Roy Carroll took over and is likely to keep his place for the trip to St Andrews, although Ferguson hopes his French World Cup winner will be fit for Sunday's Old Trafford meeting with Kevin Keegan's men.

"There is a lot of swelling but hopefully we can get him right," said the United boss.

But Southampton striker Jo Tessem believes that Arsenal are better equipped than United to win the Premiership He said: "I think that Arsenal are a much better team. They look like a better team.

"They play better football and seem like a whole team more than Manchester United do, but you never know what's going to happen."
