Czech sights on Euro finals

THE Czech Republic are determined to leave Dublin tonight with a 21st notch to their unbeaten belt as they prepare for the European Championship finals in June.

Czech sights on Euro finals

Not since Belgium beat them home and away in the World Cup play-offs in November 2001 have the Czechs suffered defeat, and manager Karel Bruckner in charge for the last 20 games is determined to keep the run going.

"It is important for our preparation for Euro 2004 and we want to win the game.

"Ireland are dangerous opponents, especially playing 4-4-2 which is very, very effective," he said.

"Both Robbie Keane and Clinton Morrison are dangerous while midfielders, Damien Duff and Kevin Kilbane, are not very easy."

But Bruckner admits the long-term aim is success in Portugal something he believes is achievable.

"Our goals are more or less reachable," he declared. "We are lucky enough to have a good competitive team. But we add that to the supporting elements like will and determination."
