Groenkjaer back after mother’s death

DANISH winger Jesper Groenkjaer rejoined his team-mates yesterday after the death of his mother. Groenkjaer’s mother died from cancer last Thursday and her funeral was on Monday.

The Danes got their Euro 2004 campaign off to a good start with a 0-0 draw against Italy on Monday, but Groenkjaer is likely to be in the line-up for the next game against Bulgaria in Braga on Friday.

Denmark could ill afford to lose Groenkjaer having already seen veteran Morten Wieghorst drop out and another midfielder Thomas Gravesen suspended for the Italy game.
