Swiss boss tips Ireland to win, despite cool reception

ā€œI can’t imagine the Faroes will hold out against Ireland,ā€ Kuhn said.

ā€œBut there are no ā€˜little’ teams in football any more and you never know what could happen.ā€

Several Swiss players complained about the weather in Toftir after their 3-1 win on Saturday.

ā€œI’ll never visit the Faroes again,ā€ vowed goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler, who confessed he was traumatised by the cold, windy conditions.

ā€œI’m going to spend 10 days in Oman to banish these memories,ā€ Zuberbuhler added.

ā€œPlaying in the Faroes is like visiting the moon,ā€ said defender Ludovic Magnin.

He added: ā€œI’m not daft, I prefer eating squid than whale!ā€

Weather conditions in Torshavn tomorrow night are forecast to be cool (50F), with south-westerly winds of up to 20mph as Ireland prepare to take to the field.
