The Lens midfielder hoped to persuade Martin O’Neill to hand him a permanent contract but did little to suggest he was a Celtic legend in the making.

Instead youngster Beattie and on-loan strike partner Camara scored quality goals and showed early signs that they could forge an understanding and warrant starting places.
