Psycho to stay at City: chairman

MANCHESTER CITY chairman John Wardle believes Stuart Pearce will stay on as manager well beyond his current two-year contract.

Psycho to stay at City: chairman

Although City’s 13-match unbeaten run came to an end against Bolton on Sunday, Pearce has astounded the Blues hierarchy with the impact he has had on the club since he was installed as Kevin Keegan’s successor, initially on a temporary basis, in March.

Already there is talk Wardle may attempt to tie Pearce down for an extended period. But while that discussion may be wide of the mark just now, the City chief admits he does not want to see his manager going anywhere.

“It is too soon to talk about a new contract, but hopefully Stuart will carry on and on and on,” said Wardle.

“He has done a marvellous job since taking over from Kevin. The whole place is buzzing and people are talking about the club again.”
