Brooking: England decision moving on

TREVOR BROOKING has refused to put a timescale on the naming of Sven-Goran Eriksson’s successor as England coach - but revealed he hoped an announcement would be made “sooner rather than later”.

Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, who is reportedly due for a second interview for the role, feels the uncertainty is having an adverse effect on Charlton’s season and wants to see a decision made as soon as possible.

Reports have also suggested that FA chief executive Brian Barwick is preparing to make a decision as early as next week.
