Bookies review United’s chances

MANCHESTER UNITED’S impressive run of eight consecutive wins has led to the bookmakers pricing up every combination of the trophies they can win this season — including the clean sweep.

As fellow big guns Arsenal and

Liverpool continue to stutter, William Hill rate the Red Devils' chances of capturing the Premiership title, Champions League, FA Cup and Worthington Cup as short as 40-1.

Hills are convinced Sir Alex Ferguson's side will collect at least one piece of silverware, with a single success on offer at 4-5.

However, they are also offered at 5-2 to end up empty-handed.

Tuesday's victory over Chelsea left United needing to beat holders Blackburn their Premiership opponents tomorrow to reach the final of the Worthington Cup, for which the Old Trafford club are now favourites at a best price of 6-4.

A Millennium Stadium showdown between Britain's biggest club and their fierce rivals Liverpool is the outcome the bookies expect when January's semi-finals have been completed.
