IPSWICH TOWN could make an official complaint after two of their players were racially abused in the 1-0 UEFA Cup defeat of Sartid.

Marcus Bent, who scored the goal in Smeverevo which sealed an aggregate 2-1 first-round win over the Yugoslavian, and Finidi George, were the prime targets for home fans. Sartid’s supporters, nicknamed Despots, abused the duo intermittently throughout the game. Ipswich Town striker Bent said he had been racially abused by the crowd in his team’s 1-0 victory

“It was a hostile crowd,” Bent told BBC radio.
