Robbie Keane to impress

MOST PREMIERSHIP footballers who had a hard day at the office no doubt had their feet up yesterday, making the most of the day off.

Robbie Keane to impress

Not Robbie Keane. According to Tottenham caretaker manager David Pleat, the striker who scored a hat-trick on Saturday will be running around his bedroom doing his own training session.

“All I know is that Keane seems never to miss training,” said Pleat. “He’ll probably be in tomorrow morning training on his own when everyone is off.

“I think he runs around his own bedroom, he can’t keep away from football, he is that type of boy.

“He is an international already and has played in the World Cup. He is a different forward to a lot of forwards in this country because he is a very clever one and can do very clever things. Who wouldn’t want him in their team, he is excellent.”

Keane opened the scoring against his former club, Wolves, as Spurs enjoyed a 5-2 over Dave Jones’ side.

“Goals win games,” stated Pleat. “When we lost Kanoute every game we played was tight and nobody has beaten us by more than one goal, and if we’d had Kanoute who knows.

“He knows where the goal is, doesn’t he and his partnership with Keane is an interesting one for sure.”

Spurs hammered Wolves in the end without playing particularly well, which unfortunately says a great deal about the Midlanders’ chances of survival this season.

Manager Dave Jones says some of his younger players need time to learn in the top flight, but he knows that you don’t get it in the Premiership.
