McAteer deal fails

REPUBLIC Of Ireland international Jason McAteer will not be joining Leicester after he failed to agree personal terms.

The 33-year-old midfielder, who was released by Sunderland, arrived at the Walkers Stadium yesterday to finalise a contract.

Manager Micky Adams said: "It is disappointing we have not been able to conclude a deal. Unfortunately, there was a last-minute hitch and sometimes these things happen in football."
