Celta’s promotion may be put on hold

CELTA VIGO’S return to Primera Liga could be in danger after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) opened an investigation into accusations the club fielded an ineligible player.

Celta’s promotion may be put on hold

Celta clinched a top flight spot last weekend after a 3-1 victory at Xerez but promotion rivals Alaves, Cadiz and Recreativo Huelva have complained to the RFEF that Toni Moral was not eligible to play in the match.

The three clubs claim that by fielding the Celta B forward, the Galicians broke the Federation regulation that in order to play in the final four games a player has to have appeared in at least 10 other matches earlier in the season.
