Vogts wins nine-day stay of execution

THE Tartan Army may have to wait another nine days for news on whether Berti Vogts is finally to be relieved of the Scotland manager’s job.

The German has been a lame duck since the 1-1 draw in Moldova 13 days ago, which meant qualification for the World Cup finals in two years' time was unlikely.

Yesterday had been set aside for all 11 members of the Scottish Football Association's board to meet to decide on the issue.
