COMMISERATIONS to Shelbourne on their exit from the Champions’ League in Bucharest.

Shels not ou of their depth in Bucharest cauldron

Having seen Steaua Bucharest take their game to a different level in the second half of the first leg at Tolka Park, I was strongly of the opinion that the Romanians could run out winners by two or even three goals at home. So it proved, but the scoreline in the second leg was cruelly deceptive.

Yes, Steaua are clearly the better team, but over the 180 minutes, the Dubliners received scant reward for their efforts. David Crawley and Dean Delaney, both excellent in recent weeks, won’t want to revisit the howlers which gifted Steaua two goals.
