PHIL BROWN has been appointed as Derby County’s new boss after quitting as Bolton’s assistant manager.

The 46-year-old replaces George Burley at Pride Park after agreeing a three-year contract with the Coca-Cola Championship outfit.

He takes up his first managerial post after Preston boss Billy Davies and Yeovil chief Gary Johnson both spurned the opportunity to replace Burley, who quit earlier this month.
