Beckham: Welsh boo-boys inspired English victory

CAPTAIN David Beckham revealed England were inspired to victory in Cardiff by the hostile booing of the national anthem and he insisted Michael Owen would be welcomed back into the side to face Northern Ireland.

The national anthem played for the England team was drowned out before kick-off by sustained booing from the majority of the 60,000 Wales fans inside the stadium.

"The players were hyped up for the game anyway but when they heard that, it definitely motivated us. I could hear Robbo (Paul Robinson) singing alongside me but not much else," said Beckham.
