Blues hoping for Dunn comeback with reserves
The 25-year-old has been out for nine months after undergoing surgery to cure long-standing hamstring injuries relating to a nerve problem in the back.
Dunn had been pencilled in for a first-team return in the derby cash with Aston Villa on October 16 but the club accept that is likely to be too soon.
The player has already pulled out of two possible reserve outings but it is hoped he will be able to feature for the second string against Everton next Tuesday.
If successful, there is a possibility that Dunn could make his Premiership comeback against former club Blackburn on October 22.
Birmingham have also confirmed the loan of 20-year-old forward Peter Till to Coca-Cola League One side Scunthorpe.
