BIRMINGHAM are hoping midfielder David Dunn can begin his long-awaited comeback in a reserve match next week.

The 25-year-old has been out for nine months after undergoing surgery to cure long-standing hamstring injuries relating to a nerve problem in the back.

Dunn had been pencilled in for a first-team return in the derby cash with Aston Villa on October 16 but the club accept that is likely to be too soon.
