Fahy threatens court action over FAI feud with Corcoran
Corcoran is expected to call for the Galway official to resign from his post at an emergency Board of Management meeting in Dublin later today.
Fahy, however, is expected to demand that the matter be dealt with by either the FAI Council or the High Court.
It is another highly embarrassing stand-off for the FAI ahead of their annual general meeting in Derry on Saturday.
Both have been at loggerheads for some time with their latest feud reportedly beginning when Fahy wrote a letter to the National Council questioning the way Corcoran was running the FAI.
In response the FAI President called for Fahy’s resignation, stating that the secretary had made a technical error in the taking of minutes at an FAI meeting.
But Fahy remained steadfast last night.
“I will not be silenced,” he told RTÉ news.
“The first few months were particularly difficult as we needed to steady the ship in the aftermath of the Genesis report,” he said of his position.
“Then we had the appointment of a technical director, a senior international manager and a new chief executive officer.
“I am the custodian or the guardian of the rules. It is an onerous responsibility and one I have taken seriously.”
