FAI were not totally behind me, says disgruntled Kerr

BRIAN KERR has said that he didn’t receive all the backing he needed over the course of the World Cup campaign which concluded with Ireland’s failure to qualify for the finals and his removal as Irish manager.

FAI were not totally behind me, says disgruntled Kerr

"I didn't always have the backing that I should have had from everybody who should have had a responsibility for giving me that backing," Kerr says in a documentary to be screened on RTE next Tuesday at 10.15pm.

Although Kerr doesn't name names or offer specific examples, he also suggests that his relationship with his employers changed in March. This would coincide when John Delaney's position as Chief Executive of the FAI was made permanent. For his part, Delaney has always maintained that Kerr had the FAI's full support until his contract ran out with the failure to qualify.
