NORWICH have revealed they paid Dean Ashton £370,000 (€539,000) out of the £7 million (€10.2m) fee they received when West Ham made the striker their record signing.

The 22-year-old gained the windfall under the terms of his contract, which guaranteed him 10% of Norwich’s profit on a player who joined from Crewe in a £3m (€4.4m) deal 12 months ago.

The Canaries have made public the full financial details of Ashton’s transfer and revealed their former player agreed to forsake a further £150,000 (€218,500) in bonuses to push the move through.
