Eriksson defends fruitless formation experiment

ENGLAND boss Sven-Goran Eriksson defended using an experimental system in their goalless draw against Holland at Villa Park.

The hosts failed to find the net with their 4-3-3 formation, with striker Andy Johnson played wide on the right for his debut.

“We played rather well in the first half and created chances,” Eriksson said. “At least we tried it, it was okay.”
