Vieri signs two-year deal with AC Milan

AC MILAN yesterday announced the signing of former Inter striker Christian Vieri.

The 31-year-old, who had his contract cancelled at Inter last week, has penned a two-year deal at the Rossoneri.

Vieri arrived at Inter in 1999 from Lazio for what was then a world record fee of £31million.

He had been linked with moves to Newcastle and Tottenham following Inter’s decision to free him.

Meanwhile Coventry manager Micky Adams has confirmed his contract offer to Steve Staunton has been withdrawn.

The 36-year-old failed to turn up for pre-season training last week and is the only one of 10 players out of contract who has not agreed new terms. Adams said: “We were disappointed Steve didn’t come back to us but sometimes these things happen. He’s a great professional and we wish him well for the future.”
