Djorkaeff close to Fulham deal

WORLD CUP winner Youri Djorkaeff is closer to a move to Craven Cottage, according to Fulham coach Dave Beasant.

Djorkaeff was released by Bolton in the summer after enjoying an extension to his career at the Reebok Stadium.

But Fulham boss Chris Coleman believes the Frenchman would be an asset to Fulham and expects him to sign soon, though it is unlikely a move would be completed before the Cottagers’ clash with Southampton this weekend.

World Cup-winner Djorkaeff has been training with Coleman’s side this week after initially being linked with a move to Everton.

However, Beasant admitted: “I think the weekend is too soon. Tuesday was his first day training.”

Beasant has been impressed with the player but admits his salary requirements may be a stumbling block regarding a permanent move.
