Given ‘delighted’ with captaincy

SHAY GIVEN has spoken of his pride after taking over as Newcastle United captain for the rest of the season.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, vice-captain for his country, was handed the armband by Magpies caretaker manager Glenn Roeder for Saturday’s 3-0 home win over West Brom.
