Sissoko loss a blow to Benitez’s plans

THE loss of Mohamed Sissoko from Liverpool’s midfield for the rest of the season would be a major blow as the Reds maintain an interest in three competitions.

Liverpool revealed yesterday there had been “some improvement” in the player’s condition after being examined by a London specialist. Sissoko sustained the serious eye injury during the Champions League game against Benfica on Tuesday night.

The midfielder has been told to rest and will be examined again next week, but in the meantime, Benitez is having to revise his team plans radically for the coming weeks.
